Dr. Barnard and Melinia both perform skin biopsies in the office when an abnormal area of skin is identified. Several methods may be used to obtain the tissue sample and are all performed under local anesthetic. Sutures may or may not be required, depending on the size of the tissue sample, method of biopsy and location. If your provider does suture the wound, you will need to return to the office for a suture removal approximately 7-10 days after the biopsy depending on the location.
